Subsea Forum Rio 2014

The first edition of Subsea Forum Rio – Fórum de Tecnologias Submarinas, a biannual event organized by the IBP and the SPE – Brazil Section, recorded the presence of more than 400 professionals of the subsea area, which is considered a success by the attendees.

The seminar, which was held in May, sought to cover the main topics that involve the development of technologies related to oil & gas upstream activities. The moment is strategic for the experience and knowledge exchange in the industry, due to the promising E&P moment in Brazil; however, it poses great challenges, such as deeper fields and longer distances from the shore.

In the opening session, Maurício Diniz, Subsea Services General Manager for Petrobras, presented the development perspectives for the area in Brazil, the challenges and main guidelines as technological development in the country, as well as local content.

During the seminar, topics related to offshore oil processing, subsea pipeline technologies and intervention operations were discussed. The presentations focused the most recent accomplishments, approaching the most successful experiences, as well as lessons learned and areas for improvement.
